I'm Mark Kram, an award-winning broadcast and live events creative and the founder of Cram Media UK. I've been building it since 2009, and it has been my full-time business since April 2026.
I'm Mark Kram, an award-winning broadcast and live events creative. I engineer, shoot, mix and direct the pictures behind live sport, events and broadcasts, and I run my own production company, Cram Media UK.
As a freelancer I work in the vision and camera teams on some of the biggest live sport on British and international TV, from Wimbledon to the Premier League, Champions League, EFL and the Red Roses. With Cram Media UK I lead the crew, design the system and call the show for live events, conferences, sport, awards and corporate productions.
The person you speak to on the brief call is the person at the desk on show day.

I was born in South Shields and spent my early years learning and experimenting with technology. From a young age I knew I wanted to work in broadcast.
I've been a mobile DJ since I was young, learning from several DJs along the way. In 2009, while I was still at school, I set up a community media organisation for South Shields: CramFM, a community radio station, and CramTV, an online TV channel, run by people who loved broadcast as much as I did.
That project was called Cram Media UK. It still is.
CramFM, a community radio station (2009–2013), and CramTV, a local online channel that has now made more than 130 videos for South Shields.
I was born in the small North East seaside town of South Shields, just a few miles from Newcastle, where I spent my childhood growing up. I spent much of my early years learning and experimenting with technology, which made me a very technically minded and productive person. Since then I've always known that I wanted to work in a broadcast environment, and I was always looking for things to do and ways I could broadcast content to one of the easiest platforms: the internet.
In 2009 I set up a community media organisation for South Shields, which ran a community radio station from 2009 to 2013 and a community television station that still operates to this day and has nearly half a million views! I also got involved with other local community organisations, doing event work with sound and lighting, which let me work on some great productions.
After leaving school in 2011 I went on to study media production at Newcastle College, where I came out with top grades and experience. I then completed a degree in Broadcast Media Production at the University of Sunderland, graduating in 2017 with a first-class honours degree, BA (Hons). After graduating, I worked in live television as a TX operator for Ideal Shopping Direct for almost a year, alongside taking on other client work.
In my free time I like to present and produce videos for my community media organisation. Whether it's documentaries, news reports, event highlights or short films, it's all a part of what I do at Cram Media UK. I've also worked with and been involved in a number of radio stations, including NE1fm, Broad Radio, Pulse Radio, HCA Radio and my very own station, CramFM, where I presented my flagship Saturday Night Party show.
In 2013 I began working at HCA Radio as the station technician before taking on the role of station manager, spending 5 years there. As well as all this, I'm a mobile DJ offering a professional service across the North East of England. I also work with sound and lighting at events, setting up and controlling stage lighting for a number of events and mixing front-of-house sound on other occasions.
Community radio, college, a theatre, broadcast TV, global webcasts and major sports outside broadcasts, then back to the company I started as a teenager.
CramFM community radio and the CramTV online channel for South Shields, covering local events like the South Tyneside Summer Parade live and the Sunderland International Airshow.
I left school in 2011 and went straight into media production at Newcastle College.
My work there earned me the South Tyneside Volunteer of the Year award. I also presented on NE1fm, Broad Radio and Pulse Radio, alongside my own station, CramFM.
I climbed to Technical Director, led the team of technicians, oversaw a new digital sound and lighting install, and took the theatre's shows online while Covid-19 kept the doors shut.
Keeping a shopping channel on air across terrestrial, satellite, cable and online: monitoring output, playing out breaks, recording live shows, building playlists, updating the EPG and running contingency plans.
Enterprise webcasts for global brands like Sony, HP, Johnson & Johnson, Pentland and Temenos. I rigged venues and ran camera, vision mixing, audio, lighting, encoding and autocue, and looked after the kit store.
Freelance vision engineering, camera and AV for the companies behind major broadcasts and events.

Seventeen years after starting it at school, Cram Media UK is my full-time business: crews, kit and technical delivery for live events, conferences, sport, awards and corporate productions.

Radio is where a lot of this began, and I've never left it. You'll still hear me on the radio from time to time.

Live is where I live, but it's not all I do. I shoot, edit, design and build, so one person can take a project from the first idea to the finished file.
